PATIENTS VIEWPOINTS ON PUBLIC RELATIONS PRACTICE IN HOSPITALS IN NNEWI
Abstract
The objective of the study was to find out the perception of Nnewi residents on public relations practice in hospitals. The work was anchored on Excellence Theory. Survey research design was adopted. Data were collected in the city of Nnewi in Anambra State of Nigeria by administering copies of questionnaire to the respondents. The finding showed that Nnewi residents are not aware that public relations unit exist in hospitals and they do not know the duties of public relations unit. The researcher concluded that respondents studied are not aware that their complaint to public relations unit can make health workers serve them better, financial cost of treatment is major factor that influences patients to choose a particular hospital. Based on the findings, the researchers recommended that health agencies should sensitise citizens on the duties and obligations of public relations unit in hospitals.
