EXPLORING THE FACTORS OF LIBRARY ANXIETY AMONG UNDERGRADUATES IN FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES, NORTH-CENTRAL, NIGERIA

Abstract


The study investigated the factors contributing to library anxiety among undergraduates in federal universities in Northern Nigeria. The study was guided by two (2) objectives and two (2) research questions. A descriptive survey research design was used for the study; the population comprised of simple random sampling techniques was used for the study. A questionnaire was used as the data collection instrument. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and results were presented in tables, frequency distribution, percentages and mean scores. The findings of the study showed that; The findings highlight prevalent concerns related to anxiety triggers, such as discomfort with library use, communication hurdles with staff, and uncertainties about safety and navigation. The study recommends a holistic approach to library management, emphasizing user-centred improvements to cultivate a more inviting, supportive, and inclusive academic library environment.
