EVALUATING THE ROLE OF COLLABORATION SKILLS IN SHAPING RESEARCH PRODUCTIVITY AMONG LIBRARIANS AT THE NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA (NOUN)
Abstract
This research explores the influence of collaboration skills on the research productivity of librarians in the National Open University of Nigeria. The study employed a survey research design. The population for this study comprised fifty-four (54) librarians at the National Open University of Nigeria. The census approach to study the entire population and is suitable when the population size is relatively small or manageable. The study found that there is a moderate level of collaboration skills of Librarians in the National Open University of Nigeria. The study also found that there is a moderate level of research productivity among librarians in the National Open University. The study also found that there is a significant positive influence of collaborative skills on the research productivity of librarians at the National Open University of Nigeria. The study therefore recommended that librarians should attend workshops and conferences geared towards improving collaboration skills to attain a higher level of collaboration skills. Librarians should collaborate more in writing book chapters, books, journal articles and conference papers. Collaboration skills are paramount to enhancing the research productivity of librarians, as they play a pivotal role in fostering a dynamic and synergistic work environment.
