Samuel Chudi Oruchalu, Uzodinma C. Okafor

Abstract

This study interrogated technological advancement and youths involvement in Nigeria, 2015-2023. It questioned the extent of abuse of technology by the Nigeria youth that should be seen as solution to humanity but is welcomed with mixed feelings. As such the study is guided by specific objective on the impact of computer technology on Nigeria youths’ activities on the cyberspace. Mixed design involving documentary evidence and interview section was adopted and the study was analysed using descriptive qualitative method. The study reveals that desperate and criminally minded youths have exploited the advancement in technology to engage in all sorts of cybercrime. As such it recommends that the government should regulate the abusive usage of the internet, social media just like china, Japan, and otherworld powers did. This means that the government of Nigeria can relate with advanced international bodies to establish enforcement agencies to regulate and checkmate cyber activities across board. Through the process, it will go a long way to check the excesses of cyber risk and transformation comes automatically.
