FAMILY COMMUNICATION AND EMOTIONAL ADJUSTMENT OF STUDENTS IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN CALABAR EDUCATION ZONE OF CROSS RIVER STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract


This study was designed to examine family communication and emotional adjustment of students in public secondary schools in Calabar Education Zone of Cross River State, Nigeria. The correlational research design was adopted with a sample of 484 SS 11 students drawn using the Multi-stage sampling technique. Family Communication and Emotional Adjustment Questionnaire (FCEAQ) was used for data collection. Data generated were analysed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation at .05 level of significance. Result obtained from the analysis revealed that family communication has significant influence on emotional adjustment of students in public secondary schools in Calabar Education Zone of Cross River State. It was then recommended among others that parents should stick together in order to develop a good home social relationship in their children.
