THE IMPACT OF PROFITABILITY ON CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) SPENDING ON HOST COMMUNITIES BY CEMENT MANUFACTURING COMPANIES
Abstract
This study is on the impact of profitability on corporate social responsibility (CSR) spending on host communities by cement manufacturing companies. The main objective of this study is to assess the impact of profitability on CSR spending on cement companies` host communities. The study made use of secondary data obtained from the annual financial statements of the companies from2014 t0 2018. All the cement companies quoted on the Nigerian stock exchange were sampled and linear regression analysis was used to analyze the data collected. The study found that profit has no any significant impact on the CSR spending of cement companies studied. It was concluded that there are other important factors that plays significant roles in the decision on CSR spending by cement companies.
